Windows XP Boosts Older PC Sales, Move the OS with Easeus Disk Copy

It has recently come to light that people are buying second hand PCs not because of the economic crisis, nor because they prefer outdated hardware, but for a very interesting reason – to get their hands on the Windows XP operating system. They could always buy Vista and then exercise their downgrade option, but that would hardly be an economically viable option, now would it.

A while back we featured a top 3 reasons to skip Vista, and a counterpart top 3 reasons not to skip Vista. The people that go out and purchase these old systems in order to get Microsoft’s Windows XP OS, do not particularly have something against Vista. It is just that some 3rd party software applications (old ones) are not Vista compatible.

It is not just private users that go for the cheapest option. Even big businesses like Intel are not too happy about using Vista, which in order to function properly needs an upgraded hardware configuration. In layman’s terms, if a company decides to switch to Vista as opposed to XP, it has to pay license fees for the new OS, as well as upgrade its current machines. They could keep the old ones and risk getting sued over lengthy Vista boot times. Intel for example has openly admitted that for the time being, the majority of its systems will keep running on Windows XP.

Let’s say that you purchase a second hand PC with XP installed on it, and you would rather use that OS on your current, more efficient machine. What you could do is use Easeus Disk Copy 2.3 to move it from one machine to another. The main goal of this software application is to aid users that have upgraded their HDDs, by allowing them to move their data from one hard drive to another, but it can easily be used to move the OS from one machine to another, or at least that is what gHacks claims.

If you would like to get Disk Copy 2.3, a download location is available here.
