Overwatch, the team-based first-person shooter that drew in some 10 million players since its launch back in May, is going free this weekend. So if you haven’t had the chance to try the game until now, this is your chance to try it for free.
The action in the game takes place in the near future, on Earth. In this future world, teams of soldiers, scientists, adventurers, and oddities clash to control iconic locations.
At launch, the game featured 21 heroes. Later on, Blizzard introduced a 22nd hero – Ana, a 60-year-old sniper who is a total badass.
Overwatch Free Weekend
This weekend, from September 9 until September 12, 2016, you can play Overwatch for free on your Xbox One or PlayStation 4 console. The free wekend begins on September 9 at 11:00 a.m. PT (18:00 UTC) and ends on September 12 at 4:00 p.m. PT (23:00 UTC).
To play the game, you’ll have to get the Overwatch Free Weekend client from the Xbox Store or PlayStation Store. The client needs about 15GB of storage space on the Xbox One and 9GB on the PS4.
You will have access to the full roster of 22 heros and you will get the chance to battle it out on any of the game’s 13 maps. And last but not least, you’ll be free to try all 4 game modes: Assault, Escort, Assault/Escort Hybrid, and Control.
Should you decide to purchase Overwatch: Origins Edition, all your progress from the Free Weekend will carry over to the full game. But please note that trophies and achievements have been disabled for the Free Weekend. Oh, and you should also note that you won’t be able to play with your PC gamer friends. Cross-platform play is not available in Overwatch.
