Yahoo Messenger 9 Feature Returns, YM for Mac 3.0 Beta 4 Spawns Harsh Comments

Yahoo Messenger 9 for Windows, which was updated by the Santa Clara software developer just a few days ago, was missing one feature that users became accustomed to using: the option to delete individual call records. It is yet unclear why the development team behind this very popular instant messaging (IM) client pulled the feature, but it seems that users wanted it back so much it had to be re-enabled.

“Well, either our voice users are very organized or they have super secret calls they’re afraid will be discovered. To that end, we added back in the option to delete items from your call history list. And we know some users were experiencing a bug where the call history window was popping up every time you signed in (even if you didn’t have missed calls). We’ve fixed this problem so just sign out of Yahoo! Messenger 9.0, quit the application, then start it again and sign in. You’ll see the call history window one more time but on future sign-ins, you’ll only see it when you have missed calls or a voicemail,” explains Product Manager, Sarah Bacon.

Talking about bugs, it seems that the recently released Yahoo! Messenger for Mac Beta 4 is creating problems for some users.

“I updated my YM to this version last night and from then on, whenever I try to log in, it disconnects for like 2 seconds, reconnects then disconnects again. This happens 5-9 times before it stabilizes. I’m quite sure that I’m not having internet connection problems. I’ve tried bringing my laptop to several places with Wi-Fi and the same thing happens every time,” one Yahoo Messenger for Mac 3.0 Beta 4 user told FindMySoft.

One other user on the official Yahoo! blog was quick to point out another problem. When you report a message as spam, the sender is automatically added to the ignore list. The thing is that you will not be able to remove that contact from the ignore list (and you know it is not actually a person but a spam bot) because it is not in your contacts list. Users are also reporting that they got banned after deleting contacts from the ignore list.
