Yahoo! Messenger 9, version 9.0.0.2128, is the latest update to be released by the Santa Clara based company. With this update the development team behind the IM ( instant messaging ) client solves some issues that came to light when people tried to install and use version 9.0.0.2112.

“We released an updated version of Yahoo! Messenger 9.0 today (9.0.0.2128). This latest build includes a fix for the sign-in issues that have been affecting some users. If you were seeing an error code “81003005” when trying to sign in, this latest version should fix that problem. Even if you were experiencing a different kind of sign-in issue, we recommend installing this latest version,” explains Product Manager, Sarah Bacon.

Let’s take a quick look back in time in order to get a better feel for what is going on with Yahoo! Messenger 9. Version 9.0.0.2112 brought about a few changes to the instant messaging client both in terms of looks and functionality (stability) – read all about it here. It soon came to light that there were still some bugs in the software: the installation process would simply freeze at 99%; users that got to install Yahoo Messenger would not be able to login and would be asked to try again later; and there was even an incompatibility issue with SpeedBit Video Accelerator.

Sarah Bacon on the login problems: “We know that some users are having trouble signing into 9.0 after installing the latest version (9.0.0.2112). The problem typically happens like this: you download and install the latest version but when you go to sign-in, you get an error and are asked to try again later. But even when you try later, the error continues.”

Regarding SpeedBit Video Accelerator, the only workaround that the Yahoo! Messenger team provided is to uninstall the software altogether: “At this time, we have not solved the conflict so the only way to get Yahoo! Messenger 9.0 installed is to remove SpeedBit Video Accelerator from your PC. We do not recommend re-installing SpeedBit after installing 9.0 as it also prevents 9.0 from running.”
