1. When you let the web name your ship, you get Boaty Mcboatface



The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) asked the internet to help name its new, state-of-the-art £200million royal research ship that will provide a platform for scientists to study across a wide range of scientific fields.

Things turned out, well, precisely as you would expect. The most loved name, with more than 124,000 votes, was Boaty McBoatface.

Other name suggestions that got a lot of votes include: It's Bloody Cold Here, Boatimus Prime, I like big boats & I cannot lie, What Iceberg?, Thanks for all the fish, Ice Ice Baby, Boatasaurus Rex, Netflix and Endure Sub-zero, Icey Smashy-Smash, and Titanic 2: The revenge.

Duncan Wingham, the chief executive of the NERC, has the final say in this and he’s faced with a tough choice. Name the £200million royal research ship Boaty McBoatface and please the public, or refuse this silly name and go with something more dignified, which is great for the organization’s credibility but will surely annoy the public.


2. Grandma’s reaction to Tesla’s autopilot



What do you get when you put a 70 year old woman behind the wheel of a Tesla and activate the car’s autopilot? Check out the video above to see for yourself.


3. Forget about flying drones, here’s an underwater drone



The Submariner Camera is an underwater drone, a small remote-controlled submersible that has an onboard camera and built-in headlights. CCP, a subsidiary of Bandai, is going to release it on April 28 in Japan. There’s no word on when and if it is going to be available outside of Japan.


4. This is Jia Jia, a humanoid "Robot Goddess"



After three years of work, researchers at The University of Science and Technology of China unveiled a humanoid robot called Jia Jia. She can move her arms, make different facial expressions, and respond to human conversation.


5. More iPhone 6S torture, this time with expanding foam



We’ve seen the iPhone 6S get dropped, dunked, tumbled and bent. Now, let’s see if it can survive being placed inside a liquid solution that turns into foam in a matter of minutes.


6. Dark Souls board game got fully funded in 3 minutes



Steamforged Games launched a Kickstarter campaign for a board game inspired by Dark Souls. Three minutes after the campaign launched, it had already met its goal of £50,000. It's currently at over £1,130,000 and still has 24 more days to go.


7. This is "Help", a 360-degree monster movie directed by Justin Lin



It’s also the first live-action short from Google Spotlight Stories.

The video's official description goes like this: “Our first live action story takes place in the middle of downtown Los Angeles, where a meteor shower has left a deep scar on the streets of Chinatown. Panic, fear and an alien sends a young woman scrambling to escape.”

With Google Spotlight Stories, Google ATAP, the Advanced Technology and Projects group, invites you to “immerse yourself in a world of 360° storytelling made uniquely for mobile.”


8. The new trailer for the upcoming World of Warcraft movie



Activision Blizzard and Legendary Pictures are turning the World of Warcraft game into a movie. But you already know that. What you may not know is that a new, a second official trailer has been rolled out.

The Warcraft movie is going to hit be released on June 10, 2016 in the US.


9. John Romero parodies Star Wars to promote new shooter



John Romero, the legendary visionary behind the Wolfenstein, Doom, and Quake franchises, is working with Night Work Games on a new shooter.

The new game will be officially unveiled on Monday, April 25. To announce the game’s official unveiling, John Romero released a teaser video that parodies Star Wars: The Force Awakens.


10. Watch a Rose Gold MacBook get cut in half



Earlier this week, Apple upgraded its line of notebooks, introducing a new 12-inch MacBook that is available in several colors: Gold, Silver, Space Gray and a brand new Rose Gold. While we already know a lot about the notebook’s internals, it’s always fun to see one get cut in half.
