As you may already know, the upcoming Need for Speed (NFS) reboot will feature 5 ways to play: Speed, Style, Build, Crew, and Outlaw. But did you know Need For Speed’s narrative and its five ways to play were inspired by real world car culture icons?

EA’s Ghost Games studio recently presented the car culture heroes that served as inspiration for the aforementioned five ways to play.

NFS – Ways to Play and Icons
  • Speed – keep your nerve, put the pedal to the medal, and feel the adrenaline rush as you drive at top speed.
  • Magnus Walker, known for his high speed driving and for the fact that he collects and restores classic Porsche 911s.
  • Style – take a corner in style by precisely sliding your car sideways.
  • Ken Block, known for his aggressive driving and precision sliding.
  • Build – make visual and performance modifications, improve and personalize your car.
  • Nakai-san, founder of RAUH-Welt BEGRIFF (RWB), a world renowned tuning and customizing company.
  • Crew – don’t hit the streets on your own, ride with your crew.
  • Risky Devil, the infamous drift crew that are known for their close proximity driving, precise control, and wild drift trains.
  • Outlaw – enjoy the thrill of messing with cops, being chased, and evading your pursuers.
  • Morohoshi-san, known for doing what he wants and not caring about how people categorize him.

“We’re honored to be working with these icons - they live and breathe the lifestyle we’re looking to recreate and have been such an inspiration to the team as we return Need for Speed back to greatness,” said Marcus Nilsson, Executive Producer at Ghost Games. “We wanted to create a powerful story that’s emotional but also pushes the boundaries of technology by adding real-time compositing to the power of Frostbite. This allows us, for the first time ever, to blend live action film seamlessly with your in-game car and garage.”

The new Need for Speed game, a full reboot of the NFS franchise, is scheduled to be released on November 3, 2015 in North America.
