Electronic Arts’ Ghost Games studio is working on a full reboot of the Need for Speed (NFS) storied franchise. The studio will roll out a new NFS game that will be called…drum rolls please…it will be called simply Need for Speed.

“Need for Speed is one of the most iconic names in gaming, and we're returning it to greatness in this reboot,” said Marcus Nilsson, Executive Producer at Ghost Games. “Pulling on our 20 years of history, and then taking a year out from releasing a game, we are making the game we’ve always wanted to. We're listening to the fans and delivering an experience that will capture their imagination and unleash their passion for cars and speed.”

Ghost Games will implement many fan-requested features into the new Need for Speed game, including deep customization options, an authentic urban car culture experience, a nocturnal open world, and an immersive narrative.

In a press release, EA explained that the game “will deliver an experience that's grounded in authentic car culture” and added that “the level of detail and real-world authenticity will envelop gamers in an exciting world to discover and enjoy in a way that only Need for Speed can deliver.”

To get us excited about the upcoming Need for Speed game, EA rolled out the teaser trailer that’s embedded below. A full trailer will be released on June 15, 2015 (the same day as EA's E3 press conference).

The game itself will be released this fall. It will be available for PCs, PlayStation 4 computer entertainment systems, and Xbox One games and entertainment systems.
