UPDATE: Angry Birds Seasons will be updated tommorow, the 10th of March.

Rovio Mobile, the developer behind the immensely popular Angry Birds game, releases special editions on various special occasions. It released a special edition on Halloween (called Angry Birds Halloween), a special edition to celebrate Christmas (called Angry Birds Season's Greedings), and then another edition to celebrate Valentines Day (an updated version of Angry Birds Seasons called Hogs and Kisses ).

With St Patrick’s Day only a few days away, do you think Rovio Mobile will update Angry Birds Seasons to included a special St. Patrick’s Day edition? Don’t be ridiculous, of course they will!

Rovio’ CEO confirmed at the Game Developer Conference that new levels will be added to Angry Birds seasons in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.

Rovio’s Angry Birds page on popular social networking site Facebook (see here) confirmed that Angry Birds Seasons will be updated and that the update will be called Go Green. A video showcasing the St Patrick’s Day update has already been posted online on popular video sharing site YouTube – check it out here.

In related St Patrick’s Day News, you should check out the recently released Ireland theme for Windows 7. Offered free of charge by Microsoft on the Personalization Gallery, the theme is a collection of 17 top quality images that depict the beauty of Ireland. But that’s not the best part; the best part is that the theme comes with a unique sound-scheme based on traditional Celtic music.

Jennifer Shepherd, site manager for the Windows Personalization Gallery, said that “there’s certainly no substitute for hearing live music (or for visiting Ireland in the flesh), but with our new Ireland theme and its custom sound-scheme, a touch of Celtic spirit is as close as your Windows 7 PC.”

I mentioned above that Angry Birds is a very popular game. Here are some figures to back up my claims:
  • Across all platforms, the game is available for Mac OS X, Windows, Android, iOS, and other platforms, more than 50 million downloads have been recorded.
  • In one week after being released, Angry Birds Halloween was downloaded more than one million times.
  • According to Peter Vesterbacka, Angry Birds players spend roughly 200 million minutes playing the game. 200 million minutes are the equivalent of 380 years, 6 months, 6 days, 9 hours, and 20 minutes.
