Fun with Photos: Free Watermarking Tool

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but how can you make sure everyone knows those “words” are yours? One simple way would be to edit said picture by adding a watermark effect to it – this way you will ensure that no one will download the image and then pass it off as his own.

The software application I am talking about is called ByteScout Watermarking LITE, and as the name suggests it does only one thing, but does it well: it allows you to add a custom text on top of a picture. “Bytescout Watermarking LITE was designed to be an effective wizard-based image watermarking protection software. Supports JPG, PNG, GIF, animated GIF, TIFF, multipage TIFF formats. Provides built-in set of more than 16 ready-to-use presets. The program integrates itself into Windows Explorer,” explains ByteScout.

Once you have downloaded the software and installed it onto your machine, the whole watermarking process is very straightforward. All you have to do is right click onto an image file and select “Ad watermark using ByteScout”. You will then be prompted to select the fonts and text colors you wish to use; and you will also get to choose the position of the watermark within the image.

Since we are on the topic of editing photos, perhaps you would like to know that Photoscape 3.2 lets you view and edit images for free, while Error Level Analyzer will let you know if a picture has been tampered with (is not genuine). If you own an iPhone, then you must know that Seadragon, the Microsoft developed app, provides smooth picture browsing and zooming in, while OldBooth will let you have a bit of fun with your pics.

If you would like to get ByteScout Watermarking LITE, a download location is available here.
