You can forget about the iPad, because the hottest Apple-developed device at the moment is the iPad – it is the iPhone 4. How hot is it? Well, the Cupertino-based software developer recently announced that since it launched the device to the market, it sold more than 1.7 million iPhone 4s. Perhaps that does not paint a clear enough picture. The iPhone 4 was a launched on the 26th of June – by the 28th of June, a staggering 1.7 million devices had already been sold.

The success of the iPhone 4 got Steve jobs to say this was “the most successful product launch in Apple’s history.” The only thing that cast a shadow on the iPhone 4’s launch was the fact that there weren’t enough to go around. “We apologize to those customers who were turned away because we did not have enough supply,” said Steve Jobs.

Earlier I mentioned Apple’s iPad and this had me thinking. Do you have any idea how well the iPad is doing on the market/ Do you have any idea how many such devices Apple sold so far? If you answered “No” and “No” to those questions, let me provide an answer for you. To date Apple has sold more than 3 million iPads.

The iPad was launched to the market on the 3rd of April. Only 28 days later Apple announced that it crossed the 1 million iPads sold barrier. 59 days later Apple announced that it sold one more million iPads – so 2 million in total. Then 80 days later Apple announced that it sold 3 million iPads – which means Apple sold about 1 million iPads per month.

According to Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster, iPad sales will continue to go strong. It is estimated that Apple will sell 7.5 million iPads this year.
