iPhone OS 2.2 Reportedly One Week Away
According to all the rumors that are circulating on the internet, the 2.2 version of the iPhone’s operating system should drop on the 21st of November, which is exactly one week away. The good news is that the much anticipated update will be released earlier than previously thought. The bad news is that the Apple team has not announced any changes to the OS, so we can expect to simply get a more stable version of the Beta 2 we’ve already seen. Many of us were expecting to see some news regarding “copy / paste”.
The simple truth of the matter is that everyone is very hyped up about the update – people have not been so excited ever since Apple introduced the iPhone 2.0 OS back in the month of July, the current year. There is a whole list of things to be excited about, such as the fact that the Google search bar in the Safari browser will get a new look, the fact that you can now send out Japanese emoji icons, or the fact that you can switch auto correction on and off with a simple toggle. As usual, the updated operating system will also come with improved language support. The feature I am most excited about is the wireless podcast download.
Why are we taking the rumors seriously, as opposed to turning a deaf ear to them? It all has to do with Apple’s OS history. The 2.1 version of the software shed its Beta feel approximately three months after the release of v. 2.0. The fact that Apple has already released two 2.2 Betas and the fact that about three months have passed since the release of v. 2.1 makes us thing twice before discarding any rumor. We’ll just have to wait and see if the iPhone 2.2 OS will indeed land by the end of next week.
