Google Services for Websites, the program that the Mountain View-based company released this March, has been updated. The program that provides tools to your hosting company so that website owners can make their website a bit better, now comes with a set of new tools: Web Elements, Page Speed and Tips for Hosters page.

“Earlier this year, we launched Google Services for Websites, a program that helps partners, e.g., web hoster and access providers, offer useful and powerful tools to their customers. By making services, such as Webmaster Tools, Custom Search, Site Search and AdSense, easily accessible via the hoster control panel, hosters can easily enable these services for their webmasters. The tools help website owners understand search performance, improve user retention and monetize their content — in other words, run more effective websites,” explained Group Product Manager with Google, Rajat Mukherjee

The program has been of great help to several hosting platforms – by integrating with the right APIs, these hosting platforms have enhanced their offerings. The web site owner can for example use Webmaster Tools to submit Sitemaps, use AdSense to set up custom search boxes and monetize their content. Now the Google Services for Websites program takes its usefulness one step further by providing these new tools:

Web Elements
The web site owner can easily (cut and paste) add a map to their site, add real-time news, YouTube videos, calendars, spreadsheets and so on. Additional details on Web Elements are available here.

Page Speed
A website that takes forever to load is not good for anyone. It is annoying for the visitor and it is annoying for the site owner as not much visitors hang around and wait for the site to load (so they go somewhere else). With Page Speed you can test the performance of your site and if the site is sluggish it will help you reduce resource consumption and optimize network bandwidth usage. Additional details on Page Speed are available here.

Tips for Hosters page

Creating a richer website hosting platform is not exactly an easy task. Google provides a set of tips to hosters that want to make their tools more accessible, save platform costs an earn referral fees. Additional details on the Tips for Hosters page are available here.
