Love 'em or hate 'em, the simple fact of the matter is that emoji are used by millions of people around the world each and every day. They’re so popular that they even have their own day of celebration, the aptly named World Emoji Day.
Google celebrated World Emoji Day by saying goodbye to Blob, the company’s old Android emoji, and by rolling out a new set of emoji as part of Android O. Skype celebrated World Emoji Day by asking (and answering) the question "is it okay to use emoji in the workplace?" "With thousands of emoji available on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac, there are many ways to add personality to every message," said Apple in a press release. "The new emoji make it easier for users to express themselves with greater diversity, additional animals and creatures, new smiley faces and more."
