BitTorrent, the company that develops and maintains the BitTorrent protocol as well as the BitTorrent and the uTorrent software applications, has recently introduced a new means of controlling the uTorrent application. On top of the uTorrent Remote app for Android and the uTorrent web app there is now uTorrent Control, an add-on that lets you remotely control uTorrent from within your browser.
Get the uTorrent Control app (you can grab it straight from the developer here) and you will be able to control multiple uTorrent clients from within your browser window. You can remotely check the status of your downloads, add and start new downloads, and more, all within Firefox, Chrome, or Internet Explorer.
“[uTorrent Control is] a small and efficient add-on for your browser offering you the best of µTorrent as you surf the Web,” explained the BitTorrent team. “Just like your tiny-but-mighty desktop client, µTorrent Control makes it easy to start/stop/pause torrent downloads, add/remove torrents, check on the status of your downloads, launch µTorrent Remote and much more – all right from your browser.”
To get a better idea of what uTorrent Control has to offer, here’s its list of features:
On top of that uTorrent Control has a search feature that is sponsored by BitTorrent partners. The inclusion of the search feature is meant to provide you with an additional means to search the web and to help support BitTorent’s ongoing product innovation.
The uTorrent Control add-on is offered free of charge, currently only to Windows users. It works with Mozilla’s Firefox browser (FFX3 and newer), Google’s Chrome browser, and Microsoft’s Internet Explorer (IE8 and newer). You need uTorrent 3.0 or higher to use the add-on.
