According to the official Yahoo! Mail blog there is a problem with the service, problem consisting with the manner in which attachments are uploaded and downloaded. Every once in a while the mail service will either not upload/download attachments at all and consequently display an error message, or will very sluggishly upload/download them. It is a situation that can get very annoying and have an negative influence on the user experience.

“Our engineers are reviewing the situation, but in the meantime I wanted to confirm with you that we are aware and are on the case. You should also know that in many cases users have been successful (attaching or downloading) after repeating the initial attempt,” said Ryan Knight, Community Manager with Yahoo! Mail. On behalf of the Yahoo! team Knight expressed his deepest regrets for the hassle and nuisance created by this situation. At this point the only workaround is to reinitiate the upload or the download. In layman’s terms, keep at it until it eventually works.

In related news, there is also a problem with Yahoo! Messenger 9.0 when run on Windows Vista. It seems that there are some compatibility issues between YM 9.0 and Vista which lead to the instant messaging program to crash on launching. Just as in the case of Yahoo! Mail, it is an issue that is more annoying that troublesome.

To tell you the truth, we here at FindMySoft did not even notice there was a problem with the mail service provided by Yahoo! It may have something to do with the fact that we were more focused on the competition, on Google’s Gmail which now comes with several new features, most notable amongst them being Canned Responses, the SMS Chat option and the recent audio and video chat.
