Google Fit, the app that Google rolled out to encourage and motivate us to be more active, has recently been updated.

The update introduces a new feature that estimates distances and burned calories, a new widget, a new watch face, and a means of viewing your progress.

Tell Google Fit your gender, height and weight, and it will tell you the distance you traveled and the calories you burned off throughout your day and during your workouts.

Knowing how close you are to a goal is a great motivational factor. That’s why the updated Google Fit app comes with a new widget and with a new Android Wear watch face. Place the widget on your phone’s screen to see how close you are to reaching the day’s goal. Take a look at your Android Wear smartwatch to see how close you are to reaching the day’s goal.

Being able to check out your progress is a great motivational factor as well. That why the updated Google Fit app comes with new weekly and monthly summary views. Scroll down your timeline and look at your activities grouped by days, weeks or months. See how your fitness progressed over time.

Get the Google Fit Android app for free from Google Play.
Google Fit works with smartphones and tablets powered by Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or newer.

Manage your Google Fit data from the official Google Fit website.
