Apple announced the release of a new 4th generation iPad model that has a storage capacity of 128GB. That is twice the storage capacity you can use to enjoy all sorts of content – music, photos, books, movies, documents, projects, presentations, apps, anything else you want.

Cupertino-based company Apple introduced on Tuesday a new 4th generation iPad model with Retina display. The interesting thing about the device, which will be available as a WiFi and Cellular edition, is that it comes with twice the storage space the 64GB iPad has to offer – this means the new iPad has a storage capacity of 128GB.

New 4th gen iPad Model Specs
  • 9.7inch Retina Display
  • Apple’s A6X chip
  • FaceTime HD camera
  • 12bGB storage space
  • Wi-Fi + Cellular models
  • LTE ultrafast wireless performance
  • iOS 6.1
  • Available in two colors: black and white.
The new 128GB iPad model will become available for purchase on Tuesday, the 5th of February. The suggested retail price is $799 for the WiFi model and $929 for the WiFi + Celluar model. Customers will be able to purchase the device through the Apple Online Store, via Apple retail stores, and via Select Apple Authorized Resellers.

In related news, the aforementioned iOS 6.1 makes it possible for more users to enjoy ultra fast wireless performance. That’s because with version 6.1 Apple extended LTE support to 36 additional iPhone carriers and 23 additional iPad carriers around the world. This means that more users can now browse the web, download data, and stream content at ultrafast speeds.

“iOS 6 is the world’s most advanced mobile operating system, and with nearly 300 million iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices on iOS 6 in just five months, it may be the most popular new version of an OS in history,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “iOS 6.1 brings LTE support to more markets around the world, so even more users can enjoy ultrafast Safari browsing, FaceTime video calls, iCloud services, and iTunes and App Store downloads.”

In further related news, Apple recently made public its financial results for the quarter that ended in December 2012. The company reported record results of $54.5 billion revenue and $13.1 billion profit for its Q4 and announced that during the quarter it sold 22.9 million iPads, 47.8 million iPhones, 4.1 million Macs, and 12.7 million iPods.

“We’re thrilled with record revenue of over $54 billion and sales of over 75 million iOS devices in a single quarter,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook. “We’re very confident in our product pipeline as we continue to focus on innovation and making the best products in the world.”
