The Greatis Software-developed application BootRacer does a very simple thing: it measures how much time it takes your system to boot up. This could come in handy if you want to brag about how speedy your system is – that would be one example that comes to mind.
Another example is to measure boot time every now and again and see how much your computer slows down. I remember a case where employees took their employer to court because they had to wait very long for their computers to boot up. They had to show up earlier for work because the computers would take forever to boot up and they had to be logged in at a certain time.
Getting back to BootRacer, two things stand out: the first one is that BootRacer is freeware. The second one is the application’s colorful interface that boasts these big buttons in the right hand side. Click the “Start” button, click “Yes” in the window that pops up and your system will restart – as it boots up, BootRacer measures how much time passes. You will see a small BootRacer window in the right hand corner of the screen and a timer ticking the seconds away. When your computer is done booting up, said window will tell you how much time passed.
You can also view the boot results in BootRacer’s interface. By default the application displays the last boot results front and center. On top of that you can view a history of past results by clicking the appropriately named History button.
If you think that your computer is sluggish and it’s taking a long time for it to boot, there are a few things you can do to speed it up. You should remove junk files that are needlessly taking up space on your PC, you should remove the applications you no longer need, you should check and see which applications are set to automatically run at startup, and you should find and address Windows Registry problems. These are tasks that you can do on your own or by turning to specialized software for help.
