If you are the kind of person that likes movies – a lot – chances are that by now you’ve amassed a rather impressive collection of titles. Regardless if you have these movies stored on your hard drive, on CDs, DVDs or even Blu-Rays, the simple truth of the matter is that you need to keep your collection well organized. And since the classic pen and paper approach will simply not do (not in the 21st century), you need to take a more technical approach to your movie collection managing needs – and this is where Multiplex comes in.

Multiplex has a user interface that greatly resembles that of Mac OS X Leopard and uses Core Animation improvements to display a wall of movie titles – which is much better than what you get in iTunes (a pile of CDs). Think of it as a more polished, better looking version of cover Flow of you like.

“Multiplex utilizes some of the best features of Apple's OS X operating system. Instead of scanning only a single folder for movies, Multiplex plugs into the power of Spotlight. Without having to search or scan, OS X tells us about all of the movies you have on your computer - including any that you may have in your DVD drive. Multiplex is always aware of the media available to you. Movies that may have existed on an external drive will fade out slightly if the media becomes unavailable. Plug the drive back in, and within seconds, all of your movies will light up and the play buttons will become active,” IndyHall Labs explains.

The only bad news regarding Multiplex is that it has not reached version 1.0 yet, it is still in Beta. There are still some version 1.0 features the development team is working on that are not yet available in Multiplex 0.96.1.
