Google recently rolled out a new Chrome Experiment and fans of 'The Hobbit' series are sure to be amazed. You see, this latest experiment is inspired by “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” and it takes you on a journey through Middle-earth.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” will be released to the public soon and I am among the many, many fans who are eagerly waiting to see what will happen in the movie. If you’re like me and you can’t contain your enthusiasm, then I have some good news for you: there’s a cool new way of passing the time until the movie is released.

Inspired by “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug”, Google came up with a new Chrome Experiment called “A Journey through Middle-Earth.” As the name so adequately points out, you can explore the mythical land from within your browser window – the browser on your desktop machine, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. As Google explained, the multimedia experience provided by the experiment was designed specifically for tablets, phones, and touch-enabled desktops.

“A Journey through Middle-Earth” has a lot to offer: immersive 3D graphics, rich audio effects, the ability to explore an interactive map of Middle-earth, the chance to learn the history of Trollshaw Forest, Rivendell and other locations. So until “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” is released, have fun exploring Middle-Earth from within your browser window with this latest Chrome Experiment.
