First there was the iPhone OS 3.0 Beta that Apple showcased at its Cupertino headquarters, presenting to the world a long list of features that left experts saying “that’s awesome”; next there was the iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 2, which only developers got to play with; and now, just two weeks after the release of Beta 2 there is, you’ve guessed it, the iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 3.

The evolution of the iPhone operating system has reached another milestone with the release of Beta 3; the software has been made available for download, but just as you’ve expected, it is available to developers only. The OS comes with some reported changes, but for the time being we do not have the full picture regarding the improvements or new features the OS brings to the table. Nor do we do know if the software hides any hints about new iPhone devices.

Here are the reported changes within iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 3 that we are aware of for the time being:
- MMS works with modified carrier bundle on German T-Mobile network.
- The last search is saved by Spotlight. Also, Spotlight lets you search for specific items (for example search just for apps, or everything else but apps).
- The OS received some speed improvements.
- Restriction setting for In-app Purchases and Location.
- iPod icon is aligned.
- You can change the behavior of the double tapping the home button.

The final version of the iPhone 3.0 OS will reportedly be made available in about two months time, more precisely on the 8th of June when the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will kick off at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, US of A. During the convention Apple will unveil the new operating system for its iPhone and iPod Touch devices as well as the next iteration of the Mac OS X, mainly Mac OS X 10.6, Snow Leopard.
