Spammers, telemarketers, and that annoying friend that you don’t want to talk to. Avast Call Blocker will make sure you don’t waste your time with any of them.

Here’s a closer look at the functionality Avast Call Blocker has to offer.

Avast Call Blocker warns about & blocks telemarketers and spammers

If I have time to waste, I like to waste it by doing something enjoyable. And if I can’t find something enjoyable to do, I’d rather watch paint dry than have to talk to a telemarketer or spammer. These guys are annoying, determined, and will do anything to keep you on the line.

That’s where Avast Call Blocker comes in. This app uses advanced machine learning technology and an extensive spam phone number database to identify spam numbers. Then it either warns you not to pick up because it’s a spam call or it automatically blocks spam calls.

Several other apps can do that but, unlike Avast Call Blocker, they require access to your contacts list. Avast believes that a company shouldn’t need access to private contacts to offer protection.

Avast Call Blocker doesn't need access to personal or contact information

The app uses an intelligent algorithm to detect numbers that are associated with spam and telemarketing activities. On top of that, the app relies on an extensive spam phone number database and publicly available information. And last but not least, it encourages users to report new spam numbers to further refine Avast’s ever-growing database.

"We understand that privacy continues to be a growing concern for people around the world and that there are few solutions available to help them avoid unwanted phone calls," said Gagan Singh, President of Mobile at Avast. "Avast Call Blocker gives iPhone users who are consistently annoyed by spam calls a practical solution to this growing problem. With convenient warnings, automatic call blocking and ‘blacklist’ feature, the app allows users to effectively block any and all unwanted calls — and it does so without sacrificing user privacy."

Avast Call Blocker can block individual numbers

So you went out last night, got a little tipsy, and exchanged numbers with a cute girl. Now that you’ve sobered up, you don’t want to talk to her. Thanks to Avast Call Blocker, nothing could be easier. You see, the app lets you create a blacklist and avoid unsolicited calls from any contact.

Avast Call Blocker is a premium app for iOS 10

The latest addition to Avast’s iOS product portfolio is a premium, subscription-based app that is available to iOS 10 users in the US. The app is in Beta, so if you want to get Avast Call Blocker, you’ll have to request Beta access. You can do that here.

Quick recap

Avast Call Blocker can warn you about spammers or telemarketers, it can block spammers or telemarketers, and it can block certain people based on the blacklist you set up. It does this without asking to access your contacts list, relying instead on advanced machine learning, an extensive spam phone number database and publicly available information.

Avast Call Blocker isn’t out of Beta. If you want to join the Beta test program, you can. But please note that Avast is a premium, subscription-based app that’s available to iOS 10 users in the U.S.
