This piece of news is for the Yahoo! Messenger 9 user that wants to find out a bit more about the instant messaging (IM) client’s functionality, as well as the Yahoo! Messenger user that is still pondering if he wants to upgrade to version 9.0 – keep in mind that Yahoo! announced it will discontinue versions 6.0 through 7.5 this September. With Yahoo! Messenger 9 you can share your Twitter updates with all your friends in the Yahoo! contacts list. Even if that friend does not follow you on Twitter, he will have easy access to your Twitter update.

Senior Product Manager with Yahoo! Messenger, Sarah Bacon, explains: The updates feature in Yahoo! Messenger 9.0 allows you to share updates from a variety of outside sites and services with your Yahoo! friends. When you elect to share your latest Twitter tweets with anyone, friends that have you on their Messenger contact list will be able to see them.”

Here is what you have to do to start sharing your Twitter updates with your Yahoo! Messenger contacts:
- Access the Share More page on your profile.
- In the list there, select Twitter. If you don’t see Twitter, it means you are already sharing your Twitter updates.
- Provide your Twitter username.
- Go to the Manage My Updates page
- Find Twitter in the list and from the drop-down menu, select one of 3 sharing options.

These 3 sharing options are:
1. Anyone – meaning your Twitter updates will be shared with everybody in your Yahoo! Messenger contacts list.
2. My Connections – meaning your Twitter updates will be shared only with the people you are connected to via Yahoo! Profile.
3. No one - meaning your Twitter updates will not be shared with anyone. Isn’t this kind of pointless? Why would you activate the sharing feature if you are not going to share anything?

Also from the “did you know?” category, the Yahoo! Messenger 9 inline player provides support for the following websites: YouTube, Trilulilu.ro, min.com, collegehumor.com, facebook.com (public videos only), funnyordie.com, hulu.com, en.netlog.com, qik.com, thewb.com, twitpic.com, viddler.com, vimeo.com. Support for even more video and photo sites is expected to drop in the future.

If you would like to get Yahoo! Messenger 9 you can download it straight from FindMySoft here. Make sure you stay up to date (click Help -> Check for Updates).
