Users Respond to New and Improved Facebook Homepage
Socializing through Facebook may be now easier than ever, as we have previously reported, but it seems that Facebook users do not take change very well – or at least they do not like the new homepage for the popular social networking site. Despite the fact that Facebook now features some interesting updates and changes, a staggeringly high number of users would rather do without them.
This information came to light following a poll on Facebook, asking users what they think of the recently implemented changes. About 1,000,000 (that’s one million) people answered the poll and gave the new Facebook layout the thumbs down – this means that 94% of the people who responded would prefer to go back to the old Facebook page layout. The question that arises in the matter is this: With such a large percentage of users not taking the change well, how will Facebook react?
The first thing that you must take into consideration is the fact that Facebook has more than 175 million users, and when you compare the size of the user base with the number of people who said “nay” to the new Facebook layout (approximately 1 million), the later is somewhat dwarfed.
The second thing to keep in mind is that the recent Facebook layout changes were not made randomly – it was a planned decision that required a lot of work on the part of the development team. Even though Facebook has officially come out to announce that it more than welcomes user comments and will listen to what people all over the world have to say, Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook, has reportedly told the company's employees that the new Facebook layout is here to stay. Zuckerberg noted that the change, even though unwelcomed by some, is the best decision to make for the long run and he is going with his foresight on this one.
It stands to reason then that no matter how much you liked the old Facebook homepage, it is dead and buried and you will have to learn to love the new Facebook layout.
