For the desktop user, Opera 10 has been available for some time – since August 31st to be more precise. As a matter of fact, Opera 10 has even been updated to version 10.01 in order to address some stability and security issues. For Symbian phone users, the development of the Opera 10 web browser is a bit behind. Opera 10 for Symbian has just recently reached the Beta milestone in its development process.

Yesterday, the 3rd of November, Opera Software announced the release of Opera 10 Beta for Nokia and other Symbian/S60 handsets. The software comes with the following features:

- The look and feel of the software has been updated. The new UI (user interface) is simple, intuitive and extremely simple to use.
- Tabbed browsing, Speed Dial, password manager, desktop favorites.
- To ensure that the webpages you visit work in the same manner they do on your desktop computer, Opera Mobile 10 Beta uses the latest generation Opera browser engine.
- Available for Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Samsung smartphones that are powered by Symbian/S60, 3rd and 5th editions.

“Today’s powerful smartphones deserve an equally powerful browser, like Opera,” said Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software. “This beta continues our work to extend the desktop Web experience to mobile phones, allowing users to surf the Web without limitations, even while on-the-go. No matter the device in use, Opera delivers a faster, easier and hassle-free Web experience.”

If you would like to get Opera Mobile 10 Beta for Symbian, a download location is available here (if you want to download it to your desktop) and here (to get it directly on your phone).

In related news, Opera Software recently announced that Opera Mini is used by more than 35 million people all over the world. Thanks to Opera Mini, users in the top ten countries where Opera Mini is used (Russia, Indonesia, India, China, Ukraine, South Africa, United States, United Kingdom, Poland and Vietnam) saved approximately 8.1 billion USD per year or 672 million USD per month.
