Software giant Microsoft and independent game studio Motiga recently announced that Gigantic, a team action game where heroes battle alongside a massive guardian in a fight for supremacy, will be free to play.

The Gigantic game, which will be published later this year, will be free to play on Windows 10 and on the Xbox One with Xbox Live Gold.

At the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco, Microsoft and Motiga announced that they entered a partnership with the aim of publishing the Gigantic action game.

Gigantic will be published this fall and will be free to play on Xbox One with Xbox Live Gold and on Windows 10.

If you’re not familiar with Gigantic, let me quickly present the game’s main features.

Gigantic – Main Features
  • Five-man team – you’re part of a five-man team and you must fight against another five-man team.
  • Five-story guardian – each team has a five-story-tall massive guardian on its side. To conquer the fantasy battlefield you must defeat the enemy team and the five-story-high guardian that aids it. Each guardian has it own attacks and tactics. The whole team must work together to bring down the guardian; it’s too powerful for a single mortal to defeat.
  • Heroes – there are lots of heroes to choose from: Margrave the unstoppable tank, Mozo the mischievous magician, Imani the sneaky sniper, Tripp the stealthy assassin, and more.
  • Exciting gameplay – Gigantic mixes together action and strategy. The game took its inspiration from some of the most popular multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) games. Furthermore, it’s heavily influenced by third-person shooters.
  • Physics-based abilities – sprint, dodge, aim, destroy barriers, hurdle obstacles, and leap from danger to safety.
Additional information about Gigantic is available here.
