Facebook for iPhone v. 3.1 Features Push Notification, v. 3.1.1 Features Bug Fixes
Push Notification is a feature of the iPhone OS that delivers Facebook notifications to iPhone users, regardless of the fact that the Facebook for iPhone app is not running at the time. For example if someone contacts you on Facebook, you will receive a Push Notification telling you that you need to access your Facebook account. But you may already know all this, especially singe users have been asking for this feature ever since the release of version 3.0 was announced.
What you may not be aware of is that the Facebook for iPhone app has reached version 3.1. The interesting bit is that the 3.1 update brings the much demanded Push Notification feature. So there you have it, Push Notification. But wait, it gets better. Facebook for iPhone version 3.1 also comes with the ability to sync your friends with your address book - that includes photos.
Okay, as good as the 3.1 update looks – and it does look good – there were a few problems with the address book syncing feature. Don’t worry, an update was released incredibly fast, mainly version 3.1.1. All the bugs were ironed out and you can socialize with ease thanks to the Facebook for iPhone app.
If you would like to get Facebook for iPhone, you can grab it straight from the App Store, free of charge, by clicking here.
In related news, you might want to know that Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone added Push Notification to its list of features a long, long time ago. But I’m not going to hold this against the Facebook for iPhone app. Its development moved at a slow pace because Joe Hewitt, the main developer of the app, decided to call it quits because he found Apple’s app review process appalling. Getting back to Yahoo! Messenger for iPhone, it features Push Notification and it helps you stay in touch with your friends and loved ones.
