With the Super Bowl 50 some two weeks away, both Facebook and YouTube had interesting announcements to make. Let’s start with Facebook, shall we?

Facebook announced the launch of a dedicated sports hub called Facebook Sports Stadium. It’s a place where you can talk about sports with your friends, get complete game stats, see what journalists and experts have to say, and more. Here’s a list of features.

Facebook Sports Stadium – Main features
  • Live scores and complete game stats.
  • Play-by-play info, with the option to comment on or share individual plays.
  • Game-specific posts and comments from friends and family members.
  • Game posts, comments and videos from journalists and experts.
  • Coverage from national, regional and local media outlets, as well as fan-centric team Pages.

“You can follow the action as the game unfolds with a live play-by-play, and even like, comment on, and share individual plays. You can also get up to speed quickly with live scores and the most discussed plays. It’s a second-screen experience that we hope makes watching the broadcast even better,” said Steve Kafka, Product Manager.

“Sports is truly social and represents a shared interest across the globe, cutting across demographics, cultural differences and socioeconomic barriers. It’s a passion point for so many, which is why we are investing in this dedicated sports experience. We hope to make connecting over sports even more meaningful, fun and engaging for the hundreds of millions of sports fans on Facebook,” said Dan Reed, Head of Global Sports Partnerships

Facebook Sports Stadium is rolling out right now in the US, starting with iOS (support for more platforms is coming soon). If you have an iPhone, you can get started with Facebook Sports Stadium by searching for a game. Facebook Sports Stadium will be triggered whenever you search for a particular game.

Please note that only American football is supported right now. Facebook says that it will add more sports in the future.

Now that you know what Facebook announced, let’s see what YouTube’s big announcement was.

You’re not going to watch the Super Bowl on YouTube, but you are going to watch the Super Bowl ads on YouTube. Big Game ads are very big on YouTube. Last year alone, 840 million minutes worth of Big Game ads have been watched on YouTube.

YouTube has a dedicated hub for Super Bowl Ads: YouTube AdBlitz. Here’s what it has to offer.

YouTube AdBlitz 2016 – Main Features
  • Super Bowl ads – view all the commercials you missed during game day because you went to get a snack or made a quick dash for the bathroom. YouTube AdBlitz is home to all the Super Bowl adds.
  • New teaser gallery – like the name says: a gallery of Big Game ad teaser videos.
  • How to Win Game Day – YouTube asked some of your favorite content creators to come up with videos that follow the same theme: "How to Win Game Day". These videos will be released in the week leading up to the game.
  • Football-themed original videos – YouTube will release more original content produced by famous YouTube Creators.
  • Vote for your favorite ad – you’ve been watching and voting for your favorite ads for the past 7 years now. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite in 2016 as well. Voting kicks off on the YouTube Blitz website on February 7, once the game ends.
