Yahoo! Mail Just Got Better with Attach Large Files App

This summer rival email provider Gmail announced that it increased the maximum size of the files you can attach to outgoing emails to 25MB. In layman’s terms, this means you can attach and send files up to 25MB in size. And you can receive files up to 25MB also. Yahoo! has this covered and beat.

Until now you could also use Yahoo! Mail to send and receive messages up to 25 megabytes (MB) in size. But the Yahoo! Mail team made an interesting announcement a few days ago. It seems that you can activate an app in the new Yahoo! Mail and this will allow you to attach files as big as 100MB.

Program Manager with Yahoo! Mail, Andrew Molyneux, explains: “Every now and again the need arises to send big files as attachments. Normally they never exceed 25 Megabytes, so you’re covered with Yahoo! Mail. But even in the case where you have one file, or even a bunch of files over 25 Megabytes, with the ‘Attach Large Files’ app by drop.io in the all-new Yahoo! Mail, you can attach files up to 100 Megabytes. So now there’s a way to share those home videos, large presentations and all your photos at once.”

Just head over to the “Applications” section underneath your folders to find the “Attach Large Files” app. Click the plus sign if you don’t see it. Then click the “Attach Large Files” app to get started. You can send one file that’s 100MB large or multiple files that total 100MB. For the latter situation, the app tells you how much more space you have available – this way you’ll know when the 100MB limit has been reached.

The files you send are available for download for a period of 30 days after they’ve been sent. Yahoo! Mail saves your upload history, so if you need to resend any file, you can easily do so.

“And you don’t have to worry whether or not your recipient’s Inbox can handle these attachments because the attachment is stored over at our app partner drop.io. It really couldn’t be easier,” added Molyneux.
