A lot of people will be traveling home or they will go on a nice vacation this Christmas – and that means that they’ll spend a lot of time in airports. The good news is that while they’re in the airport, they can get from free WiFi from Skype.

Skype announced that it will offer free WiFi in select airports across the US starting from tomorrow, the 21st of December, through the 27th of December. A free hour of Internet access to third-party wireless hotspots within the Skype WiFi hotspot footprint in select airports across the US will be offered to travelers.

The company explained that it is doing this because it encourages users to stay in touch with their friends and loved ones even while traveling. With free WiFi, Skype users can keep in touch with friends and family while waiting for their plane. Travelers who are passing through or delayed in more than 50 airports across the US will be able to use Skype WiFi to access third-party hotspots and connect with friends and family.

It’s fairly simple to take advantage of Skype’s free WiFi offer. First up, you need to have the latest version of Skype for Windows or Skype for Mac or the Skype WiFi app. Then after you sign in with your Skype ID, check the wireless network connection to see if you are in a supported hotspot. Tools -> Options... -> Skype WiFi Access -> connect to a WiFi public hotspot -> click Tools in the Skype menu bar -? Skype WiFi Access -> follow the instructions on the screen to select and join a public WiFi Network
