I for one would rather stay inside where it’s cool and I can play video games in comfort. So what if I’m spending my summer in front of a screen? Groupon says that you will too!

According to a recent Groupon survey, families will spend around 6 hours a day starting a computer screen, TV, smartphone, tablet, or some other device. That’s 35 days or one third of summer spent not hitting the beach, attending a BBQ, or going on a road trip.

Groupon was curious to find out how much time families plan on spending on their electronic devices this summer, so it ran a survey on 1,000 US parents. The survey unveiled that a lot of time will be spent in front of a computer screen, TV, smartphone, tablet, and so on. On average, families will spend around 6 hours a day in front of a screen, which amounts to 35 days or one third of their entire summer. Children will watch around 60 movies and spend around 150 hours playing video games.

"We love technology, but we also think it should be in the service of something we love even more, which is spending time with our families and experiencing the compelling local activities offered during the summer months and throughout the year," said Greg Rudin, head of Fun Things To Do at Groupon. "As parents, we’re often just as guilty as our kids when it comes to screen time, which is why it’s important for the entire family to put down our devices every once in a while and go make some memories together."

Groupon took the findings the survey unveiled and used them to create the infographic below. Take a look!

Going on vacation this summer? Perhaps you will "unplug" and go on a tech-free vacation. There are several benefits to doing that, you know.

If unplugging isn’t an option and you’re never going to leave your phone behind when you go on a vacation, then at least remember to stay safe.
