2 Games You Can Play for Free, this Weekend Only (Bonus: Shadow Warrior Special Edition Completely Free)

The week is almost over and you’re excited to go home and play video games all weekend long. But... you don’t want to play any of the games you already own and you don’t want to spend any money on buying something new. Well, since you’re not exactly sure what to play, let me throw a few suggestions your way.

Steam currently has two "free weekend" deals to offer: DOOM (2016) and Blitzkrieg 3. You can play these games for free until Sunday, July 23, at 1PM Pacific Time. Both games are heavily discounted on Steam during this period, obviously. Moving on, for a limited time Humble Bundle is offering Shadow Warrior Special Edition completely free.

1. DOOM (2016)

Great looking graphics, music that makes the hairs on your hand stand up, and brutal demon-killing action. What more could you ask from a first person shooter? I actually own DOOM, having bought it on sale back in October 2016, and I loved every minute of it. If you have yet to try this critically-acclaimed game, I wholeheartedly advise you to do so. Play the game for free this weekend, see if you like it, and if you do, then buy it for half off.

"Blast hordes of demons in the first two levels of DOOM’s critically acclaimed campaign, then ratchet up the intensity by going for a high-score in Arcade Mode," Bethesda explained. "Plus, you’ll also have unlimited access to DOOM’s multiplayer and SnapMap modes for the duration of the weekend. If you choose to purchase during the free weekend, all of your progress in campaign and multiplayer is saved and you’ll continue right from where you left off."

If you want to give DOOM a try, you can grab the game for Steam and play it for free until Sunday at 1PM Pacific Time. If you like the game and decide it’s well worth your time and money, you can grab it for a 50% discount and pay $15 instead of $30. You’ll be glad to know that $15 gets you the game and all multiplayer DLCs. Bethesda recently released Update 6.66 which retires the DOOM Season Pass and makes all of the multiplayer DLC content available for free to all players.

2. Blitzkrieg 3

If you like online real-time strategy (RTS) games that are set in World War II, then this game might be right up your alley. Since I don’t know a lot about this game, let me jump straight to what you get during the Blitzkrieg 3 free weekend.
