classification: Rogue AntiSpyware Programs
There is nothing smooth about this piece of software. It is a rogue antispyware program that claims to have a long list of features – such as:
All the features above are from ptsoftwarellc.com, a specially crafted webpage that presents Smooth Defender 2009 as a genuine, legitimate security software solution. We’ve grown accustomed to specially crafted webpages that trick the user into downloading a rogue, but this particular site seems to be confused about the security software solution it promotes. All over the site there’s malicious advertising for Smooth Defender 2009, but in the download section it says Avira Antivir Premium reliably protects you against all threats. They got one thing right: Avira does make genuine security software solutions that will keep your system protected. Smooth Defender 2009 on the other hand does not.
What Smooth Defender 2009 does is trick you into thinking your system is infected. Then it tricks you into thinking it can remove the aforementioned infection – but only if the user pays for a license first. That is a waste of money, no matter how you look at it. You should not pay for Smooth Defender 2009. What you should do is remove it immediately.

Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware will start scanning your files for signs of Smooth Defender 2009. This may take a while, so be patient. It all depends on how powerful your computer is and how many files Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware has to scan.

When the scan for Smooth Defender 2009 is complete you will be presented with a notification box. Click OK to close the notification box and go to the main Scanner screen. Click Show Results and you will be presented with a list of all the infected files Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware has detected.
