classification: Rogue AntiSpyware Programs
I find it quite funny that this rogue antispyware software application, namely Cyber Security, was released this month, the month of October, 2009. Some of you might ask why, and for good reason. The answer to this question is, drum rolls please, October is the National Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Yeap, on the month that everyone tries to draw focus on cyber security, some people who want nothing more than to scam you out of some money has put out a rogue called Cyber Security. Mind you, some gullible users out there may very well fall for it.
Here is what you need to know about Cyber Security, the rogue antivirus program:
- No matter what it claims, it definitely cannot detect, remove and protect against malware.
- Cyber Security is usually installed by Trojans: the user visits a maliciously crafted webpage, there he gets infected with the Trojan, then the Trojan covertly installs Cyber Security on the system. Other times the user visits one of these webpages, believes the claims that Cyber Security can do this and that and download the software himself. Once installed, Cyber Security will run fake security scans and will detect phony infections. When the user click Remove he is informed that Cyber Security will not oblige unless he purchases a license.
- Cyber Security will cause your computer to act sluggish, it will block certain programs from doing their job, it will block access to certain webpages and may disable system restore.

Automatic removal guide
Step 1. If you have a printer, make sure to print out this tutorial. If you do not have a printer, save this tutorial, go out to a copy center and print it out there. If you do not have a printer and do not want to go out, then use the pen and paper method: grab a pen and a piece of paper and write down the instruction presented in the steps below. In the process of eliminating Cyber Security from your machine you will need to shut down the browser. And since this will also shut down the tutorial, you need to know what you should do next.

Step 2. You will have to install Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware. In this regard you need to download the software’s setup executable. Just click this link and save the .exe file on your computer (preferably on your desktop).

Step 3. Double click the Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware setup executable. It should be on the desktop under the name mbam-setup. This will launch the installation process. If you already know how to install a piece of software, proceed to step 4. If you do not know how to do this, we’ll walk you though it all:

- The Select Setup Language window should have popped up. By default, the language in which the software will be installed is set to English, but you can change this. The software provides support for 30+ languages. After selecting the language of your choice, click OK. It would be best to just leave it set to English though.

- The Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware Setup Wizard will now popup. Just click Next.

- You will be presented with the License Agreement. Click I accept the agreement and then click Next. If you do not accept the agreement you will not be able to continue.

- Keep clicking Next until you get to the Ready to install window. Now click Install. After the installation process completes click Finish. Do not uncheck the boxes next to Update Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware or Launch Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware.

Step 4. The Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware application will launch automatically. The Perform quick scan option should be checked by default – if it isn’t then check it and then click Scan. You are well advised to close all running apps before clicking scan. This will ensure the scan for Cyber Security will complete swiftly.

Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware will start scanning your files for signs of Cyber Security. This may take a while, so be patient. It all depends on how powerful your computer is and how many files Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware has to scan.

When the scan for Cyber Security is complete you will be presented with a notification box. Click OK to close the notification box and go to the main Scanner screen. Click Show Results and you will be presented with a list of all the infected files Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware has detected.

Step 5. Click Remove Selected and Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware will remove all the infected files it has detected. It may be necessary to restart your computer in order to remove some of these files. After Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware is done removing all the infected files, it will open Notepad and present the scan log to you. You can review the log at your leisure – save it If you want.

Step 6. Close Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware and you’re done. No traces of Cyber Security should be left on your computer.

Anti-Malware worked great. At first Cyber-Security would shut down the Anti-Malware program. Then I keyed ctl-alt-del to open Windows Task Manager. Under processess, I removed CS.exe. Anti-Malware program then worked in accordance with the instructions. Cyber-Seccurity is gone. Thanks!

I finally was able to remove Cyber Security. I have Vista/64. In order for you to run the Malware you have to go to "Task Manager" and stop the program from running. Look for (cs.exe *32) and End Task, then you will be able to run Malware. Once I did that, I right click on Cyber Security, properties, location of folder, deleted the folder. Then I unistalled it, then I dumped the Icon in the trash. After doing all thi I was to re-activate my Norton virus. Computer is running great.

Do not purchase Cyber Security, Spyware Doctor, Spyhunter, Stopzilla or any software claiming to remove this fake virus. CS is a rogue anti-spyware application that uses notifications and fabricated system scans to scare users. CS cannot effectively detect or remove computer parasites. You can move around the fake defender to access files and websites by using the back and forth tabs. To Remove CS do the following steps: startup/my computer/OS(C):/Program Files (x86)/CS right click delete. The execution file tsc.exe is located in this folder, after it is deleted go to /Recycle Bin/Empty Recycle Bin. To Remove the fake notification, upgrade windows with latest software IE8. YogiRock.

I have tried John's instructions several times. I have Vista so don't have run option at startup, but get to msconfig OK and click on startup tab. There is no process that says cs or tsc. Have tried to unclick unknown boxes and then restart and try to uninstall through control panel. Does not work and just opens Cyber Security. Any thoughts about diference in Vista? Roy
