BitTorrent, the company that develops and maintains the BitTorrent protocol as well as the BitTorrent and the uTorrent software applications, has recently announced that uTorrent 3.0 has reached an important milestone in its development process – the final, stable version of the BitTorrent client has been released to the public.

As you may remember, the Beta version was rolled out to the public back in April. The problem with Betas is that they tend to be buggy and that’s why regular users who do not want to bother with the headaches of Beta testing were advised to stay away from uTorrent 3.0 Beta. But now that the application has shed its Beta tag, there’s nothing stopping regular users from the getting the application.

If you would like to get uTorrent 3.0, the stable and final version, you can get it straight from uTorrent.com here. Before you go get the application, perhaps you would like to know what it has to offer. Here’s the lowdown:

- You can minimize parts of the interface and get a simplified view of uTorrent. You can minimize the parts that don’t interest you and focus on the ones that do interest you.
- A new streaming feature that lets you preview videos before starting a download or watch videos before the download completes.
- A new rating and comment feature that comes in handy when trying to decide if you want to download something or not. You can simply take a look at the feedback provided by other users who downloaded that torrent and make up your mind if you want to get it or not.
- Send large files from within uTorrent. After you drag and drop the file you want to send onto the “Drag files to send” box, uTorrent will create a link that you can give to others or post on social networking sites. When someone clicks that link he will be able to download the file. If that someone doesn’t have uTorrent, he can download an app bundled with the file.
- uTorrent Remote lets you access uTorrent from another computer or from a mobile device. You can remotely start, stop, add, and monitor torrents.
- uTorrent is portable, you can run the torrent client from a USB stick.
- Enhance the functionality uTorrent has to offer by getting apps from the App Studio.

One of the apps you could try out in uTorrent 3.0 is the recently released uChat Beta, an app that offers a new way to communicate with others. You can engage in private conversations, you can join general chat rooms, you can create a buddy list without registering, and you can a magnet link and send it to your chat friends.

“µChat leverages BitTorrent technology, which means user IP addresses will be visible to other chat participants,” explained the BitTorrent team. “The feature is ideal for new users looking for tips on how to use the software, for enthusiasts to share advanced tips with one another, for community tech support, or for users to recommend/discuss independent artists featured in Find Content. Also, µChat may pose an interesting marketing/social engagement opportunity for artists and creators to directly communicate with their fans.”
