You can forget about the Beta version of uTorrent 2.0, the free torrent client developed by BitTorrent Inc, because the RC1 (Release Candidate 1) has been rolled out. Compared to the Beta, it is a more stable platform – but it does not bring any new features to the table. Not to worry, because there were quite a few things in the Beta.
Here is what you can expect to get from uTorrent 2.0 RC1:
On a little side note, BitTorrent believes that since uTorrent can automatically throttle the bandwidth when it detects congestion on the network, then ISPs no longer have to throttle BitTorrent downloads.
Moving on, a test build (build 17618) of uTorrent has been released as well. The complete list of fixes and changes is available here. We’ve pulled the most interesting new feature: add streaming buttons at torrent view and files tab. Streaming means you will be able to start watching videos even if the download is not complete, you can watch videos as they are being downloaded. You can configure uTorrent to stream the video through your favorite media player.
When you download a video, the play icon between the status and seeds columns will turn green. Click it and you can stream the video to your local player or to the Divx web player on uTorrent's server. Tried this out with VLC Player and it worked just fine.
