Earlier today we were reporting that multiprotocol instant messaging app Trillian for BlackBerry was updated from version 1.0 to version 1.1. We now switch focus on another application that was updated and consequently bumped its version number from 1.0 to 1.1. The application I am talking about is popular BitTorrent client uTorrent for Mac (the Beta version).

The Beta version of uTorrent for Mac has been updated to version 1.1. The version bump comes with a few interesting changes, changes prompted by user feedback. “Several of the enhancements in this version have been top requests from you – the users – within our Idea Bank. As was the original intent of the Idea Bank, we are taking your valuable feedback and using it to enhance and provide an even better μTorrent Mac experience!” explained the uTorrent team.

Here are the new features of uTorrent 1.1 for Mac:

Growl Support
Because numerous users have been asking for uTorrent to support Growl, the uTorrent development team listened to them and did just that – they added support for the popular notification system. This means uTorrent for Mac users can configure notifications when downloads or seeding is complete or when a torrent has been auto-added.

New Dialog
uTorrent 1.1 Beta for Mac features a new dialog that will appear when a torrent is added via upload or URL. The dialog allows the user to choose a download location and make decisions about what files to include in the download.

Dock Icon
Real-time upload and/or download speed information is presented by the uTorrent dock icon.

Save Location
The user can easily change a torrent’s save location by right clicking on a torrent, then going to the advanced options, and then setting a new save location. As the uTorrent team explained, the “relevant files will be moved to a new location for the user without interrupting the download.”

The stable and Beta versions of uTorrent for Mac are available for download here.
