iPhone and Blackberry App Emulates George Costanza, Finds You the Nearest Toilet

Ask any Seinfeld fan about George Costanza’s secret talent and you will get the same answer: he knows the location of the best toilets in the city. Now since he is just a character in a sitcom, you obviously cannot gain access to his knowledge in your “time of need”; nor can you ring up Jason Alexander and ask him for a tip. What you can do is get a very useful iPhone app called SitOrSquat.

The next time you find yourself in a precarious position, wondering the streets like a madman, stop for a second, get out your iPhone and let SitOrSquat point you in the right direction. Developer Jonathan Glanz explains:

“Have you ever had to go to the bathroom desperately and not known where the closest toilet is? Have you ever been on the road and needed to find a bathroom? Well in the past it was hit or miss...now there's a tool to get you to the bathroom that you so desperately need as quickly as is humanly possible.”

There are two versions of SitOrSquat and both of them are free: for the iPhone there is v. 2.3 while for the Blackberry there is v. 1.5. The app’s GPS positioning which makes it location aware will come in handy when you are in a rush – you do not have to go through all the locations, you will immediately be shown all the toilets in your area. You can also view ratings and pictures of the facilities you plan to use, or you could discover new locations, photograph them, and upload the information for others to benefit from it.

Been wondering what the name SitOrSquat is all about? Apparently it has all to do with the rating a facility gets: a high rating means that you can sit while a low rating means that you should squat. Who says you’re lavatory predicament has to take you to a rundown, filthy toilet?

If you would like to get SitOrSquat, an iTunes download location is available here.
If you would like to get SitOrSquat for Blackberry devices, a download location is available here.
