One of the nice things about having an iPhone (or another iOS-powered device) is the fact that you can play a large assortment of games on it. Whenever you have a bit of time on your hands, you can just take out your iPhone and play a quick game to keep yourself entertained. How much time do iPhone owners spend playing games on their iPhones? According to a new study released by Nielsen, global leader in measurement and information, they spend twice as much as gamers on other platforms.

According to Nielsen, iPhone users spend around 14.7 hours each month playing games while the average Android user spends 9.3 hours and the average mobile gamer spends 7.8 hours playing games.

The study also explained that games are the most popular category in the App Store and that 93% of those who downloaded a game in the past 30 days are willing to pay for the games. Only 76% of those who downloaded other types of apps are willing to pay for them.

Speaking of downloading apps, Apple recently announced that a grand total of 15 billion downloads have been recorded. There are more than 425,000 apps in the App Store (including some 100,000 native iPad apps); the more than 200 million iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad users spread across the world have so far downloaded more than 15 billion apps on their devices.

“In just three years, the revolutionary App Store has grown to become the most exciting and successful software marketplace the world has ever seen,” said Philip Schiller, senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing with Apple. “Thank you to all of our amazing developers who have filled it with over 425,000 of the coolest apps and to our over 200 million iOS users for surpassing 15 billion downloads.”
