The iWork ‘09 suite that Apple released not too long ago, the one that hackers were quick to crack, incorporates several new improvements and new features, including Keynote Remote. But we are not going to talk about Keynote Remote, we re going to present Stage Hand, a brand new application that allows you to use your iPhone or iPod touch to control your Keynote presentations.

Using the application is a pretty straightforward thing: just install the server app on your Mac, click “pair”, and then let Stage Hand automatically detect if you have launched a Keynote app. On Your iPhone’s screen you will see a miniature version of what the people attending your presentation are seeing on the big screen, as well the notes you made for a particular slide.

Here is a quick list of features you can expect to get with Stage Hand.
- Choose the slide you would like to start your presentation with.
- If at any time during the presentation you need to quickly move to a certain slide, you can view an index of all available slides.
- Adjust the size of the fonts.
- Light mode for well light presentation rooms, Dark mode for when you will do your presentation in dark rooms.
- Gesture support (two-finger swipes) for moving from one slide to another.
- On-screen timer and countdown timer for the situations when time is of the essence.
- Customizable highlight effect.
- When dealing with interruptions you can set up Stage Hand to fade the screen out; when you want to resume the presentation, just tap on “resume”.
- Pop-up slider to adjust the volume.
- Wi-Fi Signal Meter feature that tests the speed and response time of your connection, as well as display the strength of the signal (signal bars).
