iPhone Apps for the Would-be Criminal: Blackmail, Fast & Furious The Game
If you would like to turn to a life of crime, then we would first advise you to take a breather and think of the long, long time you will spend behind bars – because the authorities will eventually wise up to your wrongdoings (as detailed here and here and here). But if you want a small taste of what it feels like to break the law, here are two iPhone apps that should satisfy your craving: Blackmail (original name Corbeau) and Fast & Furious The Game.
Blackmail, as the name suggests, is an iPhone app that allows you to set up threatening messages – threatening as in the ransom message you see in movies, where the letter is composed of newspaper cutouts. We can only think of the comedic effect sending a “Remember the Milk” ransom-like message to your girlfriend would have, but one wonders what the developers had in mind when coming up with this app.
The app, which will set you back $1.99, comes with the following functionality: adjust the size of the letters, drag and drop to change the position of the letters, use a photo as a background for the ransom message, shake to clear the screen. There are two things that you must note. The first is that the app is actually called Corbeau (French for “crow”), the second is that only the iPhone OS 3.0 allows 3rd party apps to send attachments.
When you send out a ransom message from your iPhone to another mobile device, you can only save it in your photo roll and forward it as an attachment. When you send a ransom message to a Mac desktop machine or to another iPhone, the recipient will get the message as you set it up – no complications.
The second iPhone app I would like to present to you is Fast & Furious The Game. Why would I like to insert this app in an article about would-be criminals? Two reasons: one is the fact that racing is against the law; the other is that if your ransom note endeavor goes sour, you might want to practice a little fast driving.
Don Ryan, COO, Oberon Media comments: “Having sold over 13 million downloads across the franchise, The Fast and the Furious series stands as the best-selling racing and movie-based game in mobile gaming history today – an unparalleled accomplishment. We feel that with the strong brand recognition of the Fast & Furious movie series, the previous sales success on mobile and the advancements in the iPhone gaming platform, that Fast & Furious iPhone will live up to the hype and win over even the most critical fans of racing games.”
If you would like to get Corbeau/Blackmail, an iTunes download location is available here.
If you would like to get Fast & Furious The Game, a download location is available here.
