iPhone Apps: Look Good While Getting Shot

Remember BulletFlight, the iPod Touch app that would turn you into a better sniper? Well, today we have an app called Bang! Bang! that has the potential to get you shot. And since getting shot is no excuse to look bad, we also have Haircaster, the app that helps you ward off bad hair days. As a bonus I will also present ShiveringKittens, since you will need something to do while recuperating in the hospital.

Bang! Bang!, as the name so adequately depicts can be used to simulate the sound made by several types of firearms. And just to make sure you will get shot, this RnSK Softtronics Firearms developed app does not simply render gunshot audio effects; it also depicts a real gun on the iPhone’s screen – complete with animated slide. Picture this if you will: while you are holding your iPhone like a gun, from a distance someone sees the image of the gun which is displayed on the iPhone’s screen, hears the gunshot sound and potentially even sees the animation. Now if that isn’t a recipe for disaster, I don’t know what is.

Talking about disasters, some people will testify that humidity will make their hair so frizzy that they will not want to get out of the house. With the Haircaster iPhone app you no longer have to worry about bad hair days because this app compares your geographical location with the current weather forecast to analyze the impact the meteorological conditions will have on your hair. You wouldn’t want to look like a poodle while you are accidentally shot for messing around with Bang! Bang!, now would you?

Last but not least, I present to you ShiveringKittens, the iPhone app that is meant for people who are not completely self obsessed and care about other living things. ShiveringKittens is a Tetris-like game in which the purpose is to score points by saving kittens (YouTube demo video here). This app will set you back $2.99, but for every purchase the developer, GiantCrayon Games, will give $1 to charity – in this case the charity is the ASPCA.

Alternatively you might want to help starving children via Free Rice, the web site that only requires you to answer a few questions correctly in order to donate rice to those affected by world hunger. The way I see it the benefit is twofold: you improve your language skills (and other skills), and starving people get a bite to eat.
