A couple of days back, on the 12th of October to be more precise, Cupertino-based software developer Apple released the iOS 5 with its 200+ new features to the masses. Today we are going to get the device that is worthy of the iOS 5, the “world’s most advanced mobile operating system” as Apple put it. Today, the 14th of October, is the day when the iPhone 4S goes on sale in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and the UK. All 245 Apple Stores in the US will open their doors to the myriad of eager customers.

Customers from other parts of the world will have to wait to get the device. Apple explained that the iPhone 4S will be released to 22 more countries by the end of October. Those 22 countries are, in alphabetical order: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

What makes the iPhone 4S better than the previous model, the iPhone 4? By simply taking a look at the device you wouldn’t think it’s different from the iPhone 4 – that’s because the changes are under the hood. The iPhone 4S comes with a dual-core A5 chip and a new 8-megapyxel camera equipped with an f/2.4 lens capable of full 1080p HD resolution video recording.

There is something else that the iPhone 4S has and the iPhone 4 doesn’t: the new intelligent assistant Siri that responds to voice commands and helps you get things done by simply asking. You can for example ask Siri to send a message to someone, you could ask it to tell you what the weather is like, you could ask it to set up a reminder for you, and you can even ask it to perform complex calculations for you.

Here is a video that showcases the functionality you can expect to get from Siri.
