The man who stole an iPad from a 59-year-old man from Aurora, Colorado has been caught and is behind bars. The thief is one 20-years old man called Brandon Darnell Smith. The police arrested him in Denver and charged him with second-degree assault and robbery. According to Sonny Jackson, Denver police spokesman, Brandon Darnell Smith was arrested without incident at his home

Two people were involved in the robbery that cost Bill Jordan (59-year-old man from Aurora, Colorado in question) a brand new iPad and the tip of his left hand’s pinky. The second man has not been apprehended yet.

For those of you who are not familiar with this iPad theft story, here’s the lowdown. A Canadian friend of Bill Jordan asked him to go buy an iPad for him. Bill, who works as human resources director with a mining firm, agreed and went to the Apple Store in the Cherry Creek Mall in Denver and purchased an iPad. Bill took the bag containing the iPad and wrapped it around his left hand (he is a leftie). On his way to his car, as he approached the parking garage, a thief jerked the bag from Bill Jordan’s hand. The thief jerked so hard that it took the skin and meat right off his left pinky.

“He kept pulling until something had to give, and it wound up being my finger. There was nothing but bone showing on the whole back of the pinky. The skin was just gone,” said Bill Jordan in an interview at the time.

Surveillance cameras from the Cherry Creek Mall in Denver showed that as soon as Bill Jordan left the App Store, two young men started to follow him. Just before entering the parking garage, one of them rushed him and stole the iPad. The police released the video footage and asked the public for help. Someone recognized Smith – one day later the police arrested the man.
