iOS 7.1, the update for Apple’s mobile operating system, has been rolled out to the public. The update features CarPlay, “the smarter, safer and more fun way to use iPhone in the car.”

The update also comes with interface improvements, security fixes, and a few other bits and pieces. A detailed list is available below.

iOS 7, the mobile operating system presented by Apple as the most significant iOS update since the release of the first iPhone, has been updated. Earlier this week Apple started rolling out the updated iOS version 7.1 to the public. In the spirit of keeping things nice and short, I’m just going to present a list of the main new bits and pieces this update has to offer.

iOS 7.1 – Main New Features
  • Interface – the mobile OS comes with an updated look and feel.
  • CarPlay – the new CarPlay that was presented at the Geneva International Motor Show is part of iOS 7.1. CarPlay puts iPhone functionality on your car’s built-in display. Thanks to CarPlay you have a safe means of accessing your iPhone while you’re driving.
  • Siri – the personal assistant will stop listening when you release the Home button. Keep it pressed so that Siri listens to you, release it so Siri stops listening. Furthermore, Siri comes with new, more natural sounding male and female voices (available for English, Mandarin Chinese, and Japanese).
  • Camera – there’s a new HDR auto feature. Use it to automatically enable HDR on the iPhone 5S.
  • Calendar – the Calendar features a new Month view that lets you more easily see events. Holidays are automatically added to the calendar. The List view has been redesigned
  • iTunes Radio – purchase albums from the Now Playing screen, create stations based on a certain artist or song by using the search field above Featured Stations.
  • Various bug and security fixes.
