It is 1AM now and I have to get up at 8AM. So if I’ll go to bed in an hour, I’ll get 6 hours of sleep. That should be enough, right?

That scenario seem familiar? If it does, then I have some good news for you. The latest f.lux for Mac introduces a backwards alarm clock feature. Tell f.lux when you have to get up and it will tell you how much sleep you’ll get and it will even notify you when it’s time to go to bed.

f.lux automatically adjusts your screen’s brightness and color temperature, based on the time of day. When it’s light out, f.lux makes sure your monitor is bright. And when it’s night, it dims the brightness so you won’t be blinded.

Because it automatically adjusts your computer’s display, f.lux is a great tool for people who spend their nights in front of their computers, working, studying, or just surfing the web. But sleep is important and you should not overlook this fact. You really shouldn’t!

That is why the latest f.lux for Mac comes with a “backwards alarm clock”. What this new feature does is it tells you how much sleep you’ll get if you go to bed right now. It also notifies you if you’re still in front of your computer when you should be going to bed. Notifications are displayed every half-hour in the nine hours leading to your wake-up time.

Say you have to get up at 8AM. If its 10PM, f.lux will tell you that if you go to bed right now, you’ll be able to sleep for 10 hours. If you decide to stay up, at 11PM f.lux will start telling you that you’re cutting into your sleep time. It will notify you every half-hour in the 9 hours leading to your wake-up time.

f.lux for Mac is available for download right here on FindMySoft.
f.lux for Windows is available for download on FindMySoft as well.
