If you want to see what the most popular searches were this year, then you need to know that Google’s Zeitgeist 2012 website went live and that the Zeitgeist 2012 app was released to the Play Store (an iOS version will be released in the near future).

Yesterday it was Twitter who took a look back and did a review of the year, today it is Google who is taking a retrospective look at 2012. The Mountain View-based search engine giant rolled out the Zeitgeist 2012 website and Android app – both offer easy access to lists that showcase what Google users searched for this year.

This year’s site is our most global to date, with a total of 838 lists from 55 countries. We’ve also added a number of new features, including an interactive map that shows where and when some of the hottest terms spiked around the world,” commented Amit Singhal, SVP & Google Fellow.
