The Linux Foundation recently announced that it is putting up a free ticket to LinuxCon North America or LinuxCon Europe and a $100 Linux.com Store gift card to celebrate the fact that it hits 100,000 fans on Facebook.
At the time of writing this The Linux Foundation, the nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the growth of Linux, has some 97,000 fans on popular social networking site Facebook. Pretty soon the organization will hit the one hundred thousand mark and that is something that deserves celebrating – by giving away prizes.
The Linux Foundation announced that when it hits 100,000 fans on Facebook it will reward one of its most loyal fans with a cool prize that consists of the following:
"Each of the social channels we host - from Google+ and YouTube to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest and Identi.ca - is unique. The way people collaborate and share information on each of these channels is diverse but the common denominator is the passionate engagement and active participation, which is illustrative of a growing community that supports the largest collaborative project in the history of computing,” commented Director of Communications & Community at The Linux Foundation, Jennifer Cloer.
This January the schedule of events for 2013 was published by The Linux Foundation. According to the schedule, there will be 15 international Linux events that will include 13 co-located Linux training opportunities. LinuxCon North America, the leading annual technical conference in the US, will take place in New Orleans from the 16th until the 18th of September. LinuxCon Europe will take place in Edinburgh from the 21st until the 23rd of October.
