YouTube Monday: YouTube Pro

We declared today YouTube Monday and consequently put the spotlight on popular Google-owned video sharing site YouTube. We end our YouTube Monday coverage on a light note with the news that the YouTube team recently announced the launch of YouTube Pro.

How does YouTube Pro differ from the regular YouTube? Well, to put it bluntly, it is not free as YouTube is. As you certainly now, watching videos on YouTube does not cost a thing. Watching videos on YouTube Pro comes with an “insignificant” price tag of just $100 million per year.

As YouTube’s Hunter Walk explained, YouTube Pro is not for everyone; YouTube Pro is meant for just one person: American investor, industrialist, and philanthropist Warren Edward Buffett. In an interview for The Huffington Post Warren Buffet said he spends hours on end watching videos on YouTube.

“I watch a lot of things. Sometimes people will tell me there's something kind of interesting to watch, like political gaffes or something like that. Or I might go there and listen to Frank Sinatra sing 'My Way.' So I'll click on that, then I'll see eight other things on the side and Sinatra doing something else, then one or two hours will go by and I've had the time of my life” said Warren Buffett in an interview for The Huffington Post.

During the interview, Buffet said “YouTube should be charging me a lot of money” – and that’s when the YouTube team go the brilliant idea to come up with YouTube Pro.

“The "Oracle of Omaha" also suggested that YouTube should be charging him "a lot of money" based on the enjoyment he gets from YouTube. We agree and are happy to announce a new subscription offering: YouTube Pro. Pro will be offered for a limited time at the low price of $100 million/year. We don't expect to sell many, but if Mr. Buffett wants to make sure he's paying his fair share, we take cash, credit and, for him, personal check,” said Hunter Walk, Director, Product Management.

The YouTube Pro announcement is obviously a joke. But the rest of the items in today’s YouTube Monday coverage aren’t:
