One of the most popular online domains out there is the Google-owned video sharing site YouTube. Since the internet is a worldwide phenomenon, people from all over the world, from numerous countries around the globe, access the popular video sharing site on a daily basis. To provide a pleasurable experience to an international userbase, YouTube plans to offer language support for as many languages as possible.

The development team behind YouTube has recently announced that it added language support for several new languages. And to be more precise, support for the following languages has been rolled out last week: Croatian, Filipino, Serbian and Slovak.

But that is not the exciting part. The exciting part is that in 2010 YouTube has significantly increased the number of languages it supports. Just to put things in perspective, YouTube now provides support for a grand total of 28 languages. To further put things in perspective, that is an increase of about 50% since the beginning of 2010.

Here comes the even more exciting part: YouTube will continue to add support for numerous other languages this year. As Product Manager Brian Truong explained, YouTube plans to support 40 languages come the end of 2010.

“By the end of this year, our goal is to offer the YouTube experience in 40 languages, doubling the number we started with at the top of 2010. With each new rollout, we hope to make YouTube a bit more accessible to more people, regardless of where in the world they might live,” commented Brian Truong.

They say that a picture is worth a thousand words and that sometimes you could show someone a picture instead of using a lot of words to explain something. With that in mind, here is an image presenting the moments in time when YouTube enhanced its language support.
